Traditional Gin Recipe
Dating back to the 18th century, this cocktail was originally prepared as a way of preventing sailors from contracting scurvy on long sea voyages. By combining the vitamin C rich Rose’s lime cordial with navy strength rum, the juice would last longer. Seems like a pretty good excuse for a cheeky cocktail today too.
Ingredients:
60ml Navy Strength Suffolk Dry Gin
20ml Rose’s lime cordial or fresh lime juice
5ml sugar syrup, to take the edge off the acidic taste if using fresh lime juice
Method:
Shake and strain into an ice-cold martini glass or serve on the rocks for a colourful short cocktail.
